Hideki Matsui: World Series MVP?

Japan Matsui Reax World Series Yankees Phillies BaseballFor me, picking the 2009 World Series MVP is like picking the best Child Molester. But they do pick these things and I did watch the series so I do have an opinion. Unlike the regular season, the MVP must come from the winning team. Only one time, 1960 with the Yankees Bobby Richardson, did the losing team have the MVP. I think in the case of a seven game series, the guy who contributes most to the 4 wins of the champion is deserving. Plus, it would have been awkward having Chase Utley stand there and take a trophy and a Chevy as the Yankees celebrated around him. So when they announced that Hideki Matusi won the MVP I actually was stunned. I know he had retarded numbers, which I will give you in a second, but he only played in 3 full games. He was a DH. He essentially won Game 6 which I think got him the trophy, but was he the one guy who did most to win the 4 games? I don’t think so.

My pick for MVCMP is Mariano Rivera. He pitched in all four of the wins. He was virtually unhittable. He was the one guy who did what he was supposed to do, shutdown the opponent. Every other reliever on both sides was shaky at best. Rivera was Rivera. Of the Starting Pitchers who started two games, C.C. Sabathia was the most consistent but I wouldn’t say he was brilliant. That would have been Cliff Lee. And once again, losers don’t get the World Series MVP. So let us look at the stats. Read the rest of this entry »

Mariano Rivera Spits on Baseball: 15 Years of Cheating Exposed

Filthy Cheater

As you can see in plain sight, Mariano Rivera spits on baseballs. This is cheating. I have always felt in my heart that he was a cheater so now that there is visual evidence, I feel vindicated. It takes a “True Yankee” to cheat the way he has for all these years. So to Mariano Rivera, welcome to the club of cheating Yankee assholes. May you take your rightful place with Alex Rodriguez. Roger Clemens, Jason Grimsley, Jason Giambi, Jose Canseco, Ricky Bones, Kevin Brown, Bobby Estelella, Glenallen Hill, Darren Holmes, Derek Jeter, David Justice, Chuck Knoblauch, Dan Naulty, Denny Neagle, Andy Pettitte, Gary Sheffield, Mike Stanton, Randy Velarde, Ron Villone, Rondell White, Todd Williams and Mickey Mantle.

I hope the Baseball Writers leave you off the ballot for the Hall of Fame. You have embarrassed yourself, your team, your family and your sport. For Shame. Read the rest of this entry »

Why Are We Mentioning Tex in MVP Conversations?

Yankees Spring Baseball

For the last month we baseball fans have been subjected to the most ridiculous MVP debate in all the land.  The fact that Mark Teixeira is even being mentioned in MVP conversations but is considered the front runner is absurd.  Every knows the best player in the AL this year is Joe Mauer and after that it’s a huge dropoff.  But what makes this point most absurd is that Tex isn’t even the best player on his own team.

All of this love for Teixeira is ridiculous when it’s clear that ARod is the better player.  Yes, Tex has a higher OPS but that’s due in large part to his inflated SLG percentage which itself is inflated due to his ability to hit from the left side of the plate at home.  His SLG is .040 higher from the left side of the plate and .160 points higher at home.  If ARod were a lefty at Yankee Stadium he’d probably have a spike in his numbers too.  ARod’s OBP is .029 points higher than Tex’s and he also plays a tougher defensive position.

Plus, we can track the rise and fall of the Yankees with how well ARod has done this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Brian Cashman Molests Little Boys

Kid Toucher

Kid Toucher

Brian Cashman can go fuck himself. Really, a bullet in the head is not good enough for the guy. Why? Well, he blocked Chris Carter from getting through waivers. Who is Chris Carter? He is the power hitting 26 year old in Pawtucket that was one of the players to be named later in the Billy Wagner deal. Now, I am not a moron. I understand why Cashman did it. He was fucking with the Red Sox 40 man roster. They just got Wagner (the blocking of Carter does not affect the trade). They have Dice-K coming back and Paul Byrd is going to have to be on the 40 Man when they bring him up. After releasing Brad Penny, they have two empty spaces. So they can add Wagner and one of the other two. Not both. So as a matter of fucking with their rival, I fully accept what Cashman did. As a fan of a team that has nothing going for it but the addition of some minor leaguers, I think this was petty and fucked up. Read the rest of this entry »

New York Cleveland Yankees

yanks22-4

Note: This was written before the Yankees instant replay’d the Tribe on Sunday…but I don’t care, I want to revel in this because nothing tastes sweeter than the tears of a Yankee.

/who the fuck still uses a payphone?

If there’s any consolation to Cleveland sports fans, it’s this…sure, New York may land LeBron in a couple of seasons, but the Indians own the Yankees, so let’s call it a wash.

See, Saturday was quite the surprise. We were watching the Cavs put peen to Piston vageen and we see the little line thingee at the bottom say it was 14-2 Indians in the 2nd and thought it was a big clusterfumble. Hah…were we ever wrong? Read the rest of this entry »

Yankees Build Billion Dollar Stadium so Fans Can Go and Watch on TV

yanks500This here is the view from the Left Field stands in the new Yankee Stadium. Apparently, if you are sitting here and a ball lands in Right Field you can’t see it. The same can be said for those sitting in Right and looking towards Left. That big wall right there is a Steak House in dead Centerfield. When questioned by Neil Best over at Newsday, Yankee COO Lonn Trost showed great concern over this issue. Here is what he had to say: Read the rest of this entry »

Roman Invades Enemy Territory: A Day At Steinbrenner Field

img_29782I spent all of last week traveling the vast waste land that is Florida. Besides learning that some of my Dad’s new neighbors hung their American Flags at half mast upon President Obama’s election, my trip an hour south to Tampa was by far my most jarring experience. Since I was stuck on Florida’s West Coast, I was not in easy travel distance to go see my beloved Mets in Port St. Lucie. But I wanted to see a Spring Training camp. I used to visit my Grandpa in Tampa when I was a kid and he used to take me to see the Cardinals and Mets when they set up camp in St. Petersburg. This time around my two choices were the Yankees in Tampa and the Phillies in Clearwater. That was a real Hitler/Stalin right there but my Aunt is a huge Yankee fan and she had never been to Legends Steinbrenner Field so that settled the argument. Plus, I really was in no mood to deal with asshole tourists from Philly. I would rather deal with my own kind. Asshole tourists from New York.  So after the jump is a small pictorial of my trip in to enemy territory.
