Suns Magic BasketballIt was a pretty uneventful night in sports last night that was filled with only early regular season basketball and hockey. It’s early in the season for me so I’ll watch the games if they’re on but it’s not an issue of life or death at this point. My wife likes basketball a lot, or rather she’s a big Suns fan, so it’s nice to have a shared interest in the sport as opposed to baseball which bores the life out of her. I guess that’s something…having mutual interests. I mean, I wouldn’t ever take her to a game with me because that would be stretching the boundaries of my duties as her husband but it’s alright if she wants to sit on the couch with me while I drink beer and watch sports…so long as she doesn’t say anything.

I hit the bar last night for Happy Hour which was fun but the problem was I had been sick for the past few days and haven’t eaten much food or drank any alcohol so I felt it early.  I’m no cheap date by any stretch of the imagination but I was full and drunk early in the evening leaving me a full 3 hours to sober up before going to bed.  Sobering up before you fall asleep is the most depressing thing ever.

Here’s some scores from last night’s sports matches.

Magic 122, Suns 100: Even the 2nd best team in the NBA is prone to playing poorly on the 2nd night of an away-away back to back game.  Amar’e Stoudemire had a hell of a game but none of the other starters brought a spark with them to the court.

Pacers 101, Knicks 89: I’m a fan of the NBA but I’m not a diehard like some of the guys around so when I say I wouldn’t watch a game if someone paid me it may not carry that much weight.  So let me take it to the next level: I wouldn’t have watched this game if you had threatened to rape my wife and kids at knife point.  These two teams suck balls.

Celtics 92, TWolves 90: The best team in basketball played down to their competition on the road last night and still came away with a win.  Let me say this: it’s hard for me to root for the Celtics.  What a collection of assholes.  Still…tradition, right?  [sigh]

Nuggets 122, Nets 94: The other remaining undefeated team also did well last night as the Nuggets improved to 5-0 due in part to a 44 point 3rd quarter last night.  Carmelo Anthony shot the ball 24 times and only scored 22 points.  I’m told that this sucks.
