Today the Baseball Writers chose it’s American League and National League Rookies of the Year. Of course they can’t do that right. Chris Coghlan beat out J.A. Happ for the NL award. How in the rat fuck did that happen? Really? Chris Coglan played 128 better than average games. J.A. Happ was the Phillies best starter until Cliff Lee brought his AIDS to town. How in the fuck was this even close? How in the fuck did Coghlan even win? I hate Philly! I can’t even believe I am angered by this.
Here are the Stats:
Chris Coghlan 128 games 565PA 504AB 162 hits 31 2B 6 3B 9HR 47RBI .321/.390/.460 .850 OPS 122 OPS+
J.A. Happ 35 Games 23 Starts 12-4 2.93 ERA 166 Innings 119 K 56 Walks 1.235 WHIP 145 ERA+
In summary, Chirs Coghlan was an above average player. J.A. Happ was an Elite Starter. Coghlan played most of his games after his team had fallen behind and getting most of his playing time after the Emilio Bonifacio disaster was finally ended. J.A. Happ pitched as a front line starter and number one starter for the NL East Champ. To me, it wasn’t even close.
Andrew Bailey won for the AL in which I am sure arguments can be made for Elvis Andrus and Rick Porcello but I don’t give a shit enough to get into it.
MLJ extends it’s congratulations to the winners.

Tommy Hanson or Happ were the only reasonable choices for NLROY. Coghlan had no business winning this award.
You are right about Hanson…Nick mentioned him on the Batphone when I was going off halfcocked…I looked at the numbers and they were very similar..Hanson had 21 starts as well as games..He has an outstanding case as well..either way..it isn’t Coghlan
I’ve heard of [scans post]…Cliff Lee.
/now understands why Hef had Roman fire me.
It wasn’t so much a firing, it was more that we didn’t want you here anymore.
Maybe it’s because Happ is a fraud jerk that the Phils should trade for Halladay. Or maybe the voters are just retarded.
I am curious, why is Happ a fraudjerk?
/besides being a Phillie
Coughlin deserved it.
He’s really not, I guess, but I have no confidence that he will ever be as good as he was this year. His stock was at an all-time high, because frankly, his stuff isn’t that good and I think he benefited a huge amount to not being seen by the teams he faced. Also, he sucked donkey balls in the playoffs, both in his spot start and in relief.
Something about him just doesn’t seem to translate into sustained success. Not sure why, but I don’t see it. Also, Tommy Hanson gets my vote.
No he doesn’t. Hanson or Happ. It’s science.
/Phillie fans can’t back their own guy. Proves my Philly hate even more. MUWHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
And..if you need a comparable…according to the numbers in 2009
Chris Coghlan = Nick Johnson
J.A. Happ = Dan Haren
I mean really.
