The Calm Before the Storm

Today is the day before the World Series starts. In other news, there ain’t shit on the tubes (unless you like ghey Sons of Anarchy). I just checked the tv listings on Yahoo! and it’s a miserable hodgepodge of shit I’ve never seen before. Do something worthwhile with your evening. Live, dammit! I myself am going to my sister’s volleyball game and then to the gym.

Top 5 things that interested me today:

1) This cover of the New Yorker. Seriously, this is exactly what I’ll be doing because the Texas/Oklahoma State game starts at 7:00 and it looks like I have no choice in taking my daughter trick or treating. Ways to make her tired so I can get home and watch the game: no wagon/she has to walk, make her carry her own bag, walk in the street so she gets tired from dodging cars, she has to wear flipflops (low of 52 in Austin on Sunday). I’m gunning for my 3rd straight “World’s Bestest Dad” title.

2) Delusional Phillies fans. Listen, guys – I know you support your team and all but this “Phillies in 5″ shit has to stop. Do you not remember how well J.C. Romero pitched in the Series last year (when he was proven to be on PEDs)? He’s not there this year. Do you not remember how shitty SI coverboy Ryan Howard hits against lefthanders, and that 2 of the first 3 pitchers for the Yankees are sicktastic lefties? You’re playing a veteran-laden lineup who wont have stars in their eyes. 51 year old Pedro Martinez is starting game 2 in Yankee Stadium. Sorry, you’re not fluking your way to a title again this year.

Well, when I started this post – I thought I would be able to bullshit my way to 5 things, but that’s really all that’s on my mind right now. The Yankees and Longhorns. A little bit of the Cowboys, but I’m not too worried about the Seahawks this weekend.

With that I bid you a sweet goodnight. Have a great evening, and don’t forget to tell a loved one how much you care.
