This one goes out to Kevin Durant and the OKC Thunder, who are in first place for the first time since making the transition from Seattle.
Due to nagging from the wife and other assorted guilt, I promised myself that I wasn’t going to pay attention to the NBA too much during the regular season. Durantula and the gang just might make me change my mind.

i’m on that thunder bandwagon!!!!
mostly because durantula is an awesome name, awesome enough for me to forget that the team is in okrahoma.
Is that the Kings in the background of that picture? Must have been a tough win.
/adjusts monacle
Mavs lost to the Wizards. I’d give up on the season too if I were you.
maybe simmons was right about Durant > LeBron
maybe you should be quiet until you can realize jerry rice is one of the best players in the nfl in the last 30 years
mrjerjemerjrj with the rare pwnage.
Eh not on an individual level. But considering Durant’s supporting cast is already better than anything Lebron has had I could see him getting more rings.
Sparty..please for the love of God say that you didn’t ever say that. Please.
kinda diminishes the award that you and spence shared, doesn’t it?
/roman latched on to it according to spencer
he made a top ten of of player in the last 30 years and rice was left off of it.
I just looked at it…Sparty…you and I are going to have to talk.
I gave him a piece of my mind yesterday. At least he didn’t try to tell me Joe Montana was mediocre.
jerry is number 11. it will be okay mrjer, it will be okay. deep breaths.
i rule! my list which wasn’t even linked here, is being talked about in a basketball post.
Jerry is not or ever will be Number 11..Derrick Thomas????? Walter Peyton??? is that list a fucking joke? Really my man. Go back to the drawing board. Reggie White 8th! Really? Really???? You are better than that.
first of all, it is Payton. Walter Payton. and you calling emmitt smith a better player than him makes you lose all credibility, except with clown.
No it does’t spelling police..they are all part of the same group of running backs. Yard eaters, guys you can move the pile with..all of them Hall of Famers but there is no way that Walter Payton is better than the 10 players I put
whoa slow your fucking roll
roman you’re a bigger dummy than sparty.
No…I will keep my roll fast..Walter is not Top 10 in the last 30 years..sorry
Jerry Rice changed the way his position was played
Walter Payton ran for a lot of yards
There is a difference
Why is Walter better, Fuck ball? He ran for a lot of yards? His best years were before the 30 year window.
say what?
roman if i ever see you i will choke you with the brown gravy stained mets jersey you are wearing right now.
Do you know what I am saying?
/Butters’d
Jerry Rice changed the way his position was played
OK..wanna hop on I-70?
??? He ran for 1600 yards and 11 TDs in 1984. ran for 1400 yards the year before that, and for 1500 yards and 9tds in 1985. his only bad year was when he was hurt and only played 9 games.
you mean Bill Walsh did.
can we get intern jace to take over roman’s prediction post? obviously jace knows more about football than roman
i was obviously joking. if i ever saw you and knew it was you i would feel sorry about you being mentally retarded and play frisbee with you.
1977 MVP 1800 + yards in 14 game season. the Nine gamer was a strike year.
OK..why don’t you go do a cut and paste job on Trinket Town about that scenario.
because making fun of retards is frowned upon there.
emmitt smith is not a top-10 anything. the fact that someone would even say this is apalling.
Which is why no one did.
fail. emmitt can botch a cliche with the best of them. I’ve got him behind only Tyson on my list of Top 10 Cliche Busters.
/on i-70
fuck you asshole.
but you did say he was better than payton.
Who should not be in the Top 10.
which is the flasiest false to ever false.
you just out false’d yourself.
the only false to ever false harder is the “pryor is a top ten qb” false.
/pushing buttons.
did you ever see my mea culpa?
i was hoping that after that you’d drop it, seeing as i was admitting i was a) making a premature judgement and b) wrong, but i guess not.
Listen..the criteria is over the last 30 years. I can find a bunch of RBs that put up the same numbers in a similar situation as Walter Payton did from 1979 to 2009. I think Walter is a great player but is he really in the top 10? I mean that list left off Rod Woodson and Jerry Rice and Joe Montana. Those 3 guys were better at what they did than Walter Payton. It is just so. I am not removing Payton’s bust from Canton. I am not taking anything away. But we are going for true freaks and innovators of the past 30 years. Walter Payton got a great amount fo yards behind a good O-Line on a running team.
yeah but i just like pissing you off.
and he was probably the best pass blocking RB ever. one of the first to really be a danger out ofthe backfield as a pass catcher. and basically the prototype for today’s complete back.
jackson pollack threw a bunch of paint on a canvas, something tons of other guys have done. but guess what, he did it first, which is why his paintings get sold for millions upon millions.
same thing with walter. sure, there have been other guys with a nice stretch to their careers like payton did, but he’s the post-jim brown gold standard.
and marshall faulk needed a spot on that list too.
Listen, Montana and Rice were both great. But they did not innovate jack shit.
now that’s just wrong.
unless you’re giving 100% of the credit to bill walsh. and if that’s the case, why wasnt kenny anderson as good in cincy as joe montana was in SF?
Then change the list to the last 35 years and we can talk.
Spencer said it. It wasn’t all Walsh’s scheme. Montana had to be as perfect and accurate. To execute it. Rice had to be the strongest, fastest best route runner in a complex offense. Something that Walsh never had before. I understand why Moss has to be Top 10. I do. But Rice was the better player he is also the reason the Wide Receiver position is played the way it is today.
but i think it is a stretch to say innovate. they were the great pieces to the puzzle. not saying Bill Walsh is the master creator, but it was more complex than that. anyway, like i said, those guys are great, in my top 15, just didn’t crack my 10. like i also said over and over, there isn’t some huge gap between who didn’t make the top 10 and those that did.
It’s a good thing Darrell doesn’t know about MLJ. This is only like the 4,000th Emmitt Smith debate that’s been held on the interwebs in the last 2 weeks.
