Osi is back! Watching last night’s Giants/Panthers preseason game I had a few thoughts. One was I can’t believe I am watching a preseason game. The Second was I can’t believe I am standing and pacing while watching a preseason game. The Third was I can’t believe I am talking to Monkeykong on the phone about the game while standing and pacing while watching a preseason game. The fourth was I can’t believe I am texting with Sparty about the game while talking to Monkeykong about the game while standing and pacing while watching a preseason game. I also had some actual game thoughts:
- Osi is back indeed. He stripped Jake Delhomme of the football. But what I loved most was his speed and leverage was there and the knee was not a problem.
- The Giants defense will be spectacular.
- Aaron Ross, who did not play, better watch himself. Terrell Thomas has the looks of a special cornerback and may be the starter if Ross isn’t up to par.
- DeAngelo Williams is going to have a major season. Jon Gruden thinks he is the best running back in football. He was reminded of Adrian Peterson. He still thought it was Williams. The Panther line opened up some holes. If it wasn’t for the quick play of the Giants safeties and linebackers Williams would be running all day. Since the Giants are a Top 3 defense, Carolina will not have this problem every week.
- Jake Delhomme is terrible. Without Steve Smith on the field, he is fucked and eventually the Panthers will be fucked.
- The Giant offensive line had 3 backups in. They dominated the Panther front 7. Their zone blocking is just ridiculous. No Snee and no Seubert and they didn’t miss a beat. Tutan Reyes is going to look like a big signing as the season goes on.
- I am stealing a line from myself that I said to Sparty last night (is it really stealing?). Lawrence Tynes is the sardine on top of an ice cream sundae. Truly, he sucks and will cost the Giants at least one game.
- Clint Sintim will be a dominant pass rusher by next season. He will be babied along and be unleashed by the end of the season. He needs to work on his pass coverage. But the guy is beast. Another Jerry Reese special.
- Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw will be the bulk of the Giants offense. Even in the passing game. Look for a lot of half back screens and play actions this season.
- Hakeem Nicks looked lost. Ramses Barden did too. Any Giant fan look for anything of importance out of these guys in the first half of the season is going to be disappointed.
- Mario Manningham is going to have a good season. He looks like Eli’s safety valve and brings something to the table returning the football.
- Kenny Phillips will make the next step.
- Carolina’s safeties need tackling lessons.
- Dan Connor looked like he is back.
- Jeff Feagles can punt for the Giants until he is 100. Really. His son is a freshman punter at North Carolina. If he is like his daddy, I think Feagles will punt until his son is a pro. Then the Giants will sign his son. His son better not suck. I hate when my plans are ruined.
That is all I have for the first preseason game. Frankly, it is way too much. But having a shitty baseball team to root for and huge expectations for your football team gets you fucking pumped. I am glad that the football season is here.

these were thoughts that were in my head, but figured best left unsaid since it was their first preseason game. but Osi abusing Gross was a good sign. looks like his knee is just fine. football cannot officially get here fast enough.
was it? gross gets abused on the regular by faster DE’s. gross’ extension is an abortion considering the return the panthers will get on that investment…almost as bad as peppers’ deal.
