Wayman Tisdale passed away today after a long battle with cancer. Many will remember Tisdale for his stellar college basketball career at Oklahoma or his stint in the NBA, but I’ll always remember him as the big, goofy dude who played a mean bass.
Now, I didn’t especially care for his brand of smooth jazz (jazz snobs think smooth jazz is like dragging fingernails down a chalkboard), but the man was a talented bassist and was always the coolest dude in the room. It was impossible not to like him…he was funny and larger than life, and throughout his struggle with his disease, which included getting his leg amputated, he always appeared upbeat. It’s a shame we won’t get to see him occassionally pop up on ESPN or BET anymore, he was definitely the man.
RIP.

Tisdale was a smooth cat when he played for the Suns. That’s too bad. I knew his daughter.
Another one bites the dust.
/New Found Glory’d
I like how Spencer had to get in the jazz dig.
New Found Glory, unlike smooth jazz, is music we can all agree upon.
/not really
Yeah, spence is such a smug bastard. Let the man die in peace without injecting your musical agenda upon him!
New Found Glory sucks.

Ark, next you should check out Good Charlotte.
Especially if you like songs about how their parents didn’t hug them enough.
