A-Rod after a tough workout and injection

A-Rod after a tough workout and injection

If you don’t mind, I would like to talk to you about steroids in baseball for a minute. Also, I’d like to have sex with your significant other and steal your identity and scratch your car with my keys. And when I’m done with all that, I’d like to come to your office and make microwavable popcorn.

How fucking tired is this? I go to CBS Sports and the top story is A-Rod and his ‘roids. I go to ESPN and the top story is the same. I pick up my morning newspaper (yeah I still get a morning newspaper) and the front page shows A-Rod with the caption “I was stupid”. I can only assume it was about steroids and not that he’s dating Madonna. I go to twitter and the top story is A-Rod and his purple lips. Yeah that was mine. What the hell is up with those things? Anyway, my point is that everywhere I turn, somebody is giving me their opinion about steroids in baseball. It isn’t even relegated to the sports pages. Did you hear someone ask President Obama his thoughts on A-Rod yesterday during his Q&A about the economy? Were they fucking serious? They must have been serious because Obama answered the question. In case you’re wondering or didn’t see it, Obama is deeply disappointed in hearing the news that A-Rod took steroids. I, for one, am glad that’s all cleared up. He wasn’t disappointed in Chris Brown though. Rihanna apparently was asking for it. So there ya’ go.

Where and when does this end? Are we going to have to relive this shit every time another name is leaked? Are we going to be subjected to another lame-ass apology each time as well? A-Rod isn’t sorry. If he was sorry, he would have come clean completely. Instead we listened to him say he doesn’t know what kind of PED’s he took. Bullshit. He was making nearly $30 million per year playing baseball and he didn’t know what he was putting in his body? Yeah okay. The only thing he’s sorry about is that there’s testing now. You think he’d be clean today if there was no testing? If so, I have some land on the moon I’d like to sell you.*

I don’t even care though. Whether he’s sorry or not, what does it matter to me? It happened. An entire era of baseball was loosey goosey and that can never change. I just wish I didn’t have to be saturated with coverage of it every time something new developed.

And yes, I realize the irony in complaining about steroids coverage in a post about steroids. But this is my opinion, and that’s the only one I value.

* I may or may not have land on the moon that I can sell to you. But if you’re interested, float me an email anyway.
