According the the Philadelphia Inquier, Ryan Howard signed a 3 year $54 Million deal. This averages $18 million a year for three years. It buys out his last two Arbitration years and one year of Free Agency. Normally, I would like to crap on the Phillies but this is a smart move. Howard was going to win that Arbitration hearing this year and bad feelings would have been generated. Next year, if he keeps up his gaudy statistics he could have won up to $25 million but more likely in the low 20’s. The Phillies get a Free Agency year out of this at would could be a “bargain”. They also keep their clean up hitter happy. This is important since Utley’s hip might play big into this season and they want to keep the good vibes after a World Series title. This contract also makes him, along with Jimmy Rollins eligible for Free Agency in 2011. That means they have 3 more years left with the core.

They should trade him, ahora.
Damn…get this dude out of the NL East.
Booya!
Howard’s brother works at KU for the athletic deptartment. Ryan wanted to come to KU to play baseball but was never offered a scholarship. Brilliant
That will change Triston, Price is recruiting pretty well. Part of it can be attributed to the success of the bball and football teams, and part can be attributed to the gorgeous new clubhouse. Have you seen it?
I have not fetch. I’m looking forward to going to more games this year though. A few years ago they used to have 25 cent hot dogs for certain games. Good times.

That’s pretty nice fetch. Pretty sweet what Big Lew has done to the athletic program since coming here. The football facility is awesome too.
