Omar make this a reality.

Omar make this a reality.

Good morning gents and ladies. Today is a fine day I guess. For the first time in days, I am able to speak without feeling like I am swallowing razor blades. Drugs are wonderful. I was told Monday that I have a “severe” case of Strep Throat, was put on a heavy antibiotic load and was given Cortisone to help the swelling go away. I was close to going to the hospital but I am all man and didn’t feel the need to do such things. I went back to the doctor yesterday and they told me I looked a bit better but I also have an ear infection that they didn’t see on Monday. Good times. Hef was busting my balls to write more when I was off work because of my contagiousness but I couldn’t sit up for more than 15 minutes at a pop and I slept for hours on end. I guess the ear infection explains that one. Hef couldn’t write yesterday because he had work. I wrote something even while close to death. Who’s the pussy now? Right. Hef in a landslide.

During my delirium, I have felt the need to step up my desire to see Manny Ramirez in a Met uniform. I mean, it is silly that he is not at this point. The Dodgers have done nothing but toss out a number and dare people to beat it. Two years $45 million. The Mets should beat the piss out of that offer. The guy makes this team better. In my ideal lineup, Manny would bat fourth between Wright and Beltran. Just to give you an idea what last year’s production looked like. The Mets had a bunch of guys bat 4th mostly Delgado, Beltran and Wright. Together they did the following:

36HR 128RBI .289/.381/.544 .925 OPS

Not Terrible but what did Manny do?

37HR 121RBI .332/.430/.601 1.031OPS

Umm. Yeah. Manny would be better. But Roman, the Mets were tied for second with 799 runs last year. Why do the Mets need Manny? Well, imaginary questioner, the 5 hole produced the following with Church/Beltran/Delgado/Tatis/My Mom/Miscellaneous:

27HR 103RBI .257/.327/.434/ .761OPS

As Nick likes to say, replacement level. Or something close. Imagine moving that lineup where Delgado is your 6th hitter? Church bats second? Luis Castillo’s visa gets denied? The possibilities are endless. Omar get this done. Don’t let the Tampons Wilpons ruin this for us. Manny is our destiny. Manny should be a Met. Come on Omar. Tell Jeffy Boy it is time. Tell him. No more Sandy vagina. No more B+ effort.  We live in a world where Aaron Heilman was considered a centerpiece of two trades in one offseason but Ben Sheets can’t get a contract offer. Anything is possible. Oh yeah, sign Sheets too. kthxbi

Here are last night’s scores:

2010 Expiring Contracts 112 FraudHawks 104: The Knicks and should be All-Star David Lee tooled a “better” team in the Eastern Conference. This team is starting to gel. I am digging them. I can’t wait until they add that piece in two years. Wilson Chandler and David Lee are attractive pieces for prospective free agents. Nate Robinson will be gone but so be it. Lee had 17pts and 16 boards. Josh Smith had 26 and 12 in the loss.

Heat 92 Wizards 71: The Wizards suck. That is all.

Villanova 67 Pitt 57: This game was billed as #21 vs. #3. In the Big East, the rankings mean nothing. They have at least 8 if not 9 tourney teams. They have 4 legit national title contenders. The deepest and the best conference in all the land. Better than…

Wake Forest 70 Duke 68: The ACC is top heavy as always and overrated as always. How does the number 1 team last week lose a game and become the #6 team. Then beat the “#1″ team and it is an upset? Well, ESPNews wanted me to feel that way. I haven’t watched a ton of College Basketball this year but I am not ignorant. Please.

Cincinnati 65 Georgetown 57: G-Town is on a four game losing streak. A loss to Cincy is a big blow. They will probably make the tourney if they right the ship and if the do so and get in as a 7 or 10 they could be a major handful and one of those fake Cinderellas. Look out.

Henrik Zetterberg 12 year $73 million contract: I think Zetterberg is a tremendous player. I don’t feel the need to pay him until he is 40. I root for a team that gave it’s goalie a 15 year deal and he hasn’t played for a year and a half of the three years he is on the clock for. Any asshole who thinks a Salary Cap is a good idea, contracts like these are why they suck. The Red Wings will be paying this dude forever if something happens. Like the Islanders with DiPietro. It will kill the Franchise. It allows no flexibility. Ask any NBA team stuck in their own morass. When your only hope is two years from now. Dumping every player on your team with the hope of getting one good guy. Salary caps. Yeah! The way to go!
