GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!! I am in a very chipper mood. As of my sleepy time, the Mets were getting physicals in a huge trade involving the Mariners and the Indians that would put Franklin Gutierrez in Seattle, Joe Smith in Cleveland and Aaron Heilman out of my life. Spencer you will like Joe Smith. Good reliever coming into his own. Don’t pitch him against lefties. For all the Omar doubters out there, Fuck and You. He fixed the pen. He did it. He got K-Rod and J.J. Putz. That is sick. Putz is under Met control through 2010. I love this move. He he had a rough year last year but the Mariners moved him around to get Brandon Morrow ready to replace him. He is going to have a job in New York. Get the ball to K-Rod.
Unless the Yankees fulfill their Manifest Destiny and sign Burnett and Lowe and move Joba back to the bullpen, the Mets will have the best 8-9 in baseball. This takes the pressure off Johan. This takes the pressure off of the other bullpen guys and with this move it is getting rid of the core of a bullpen with two late season collapses under it’s belt. This allows the Mets to go out and get a starter that may be only a 6 inning pitcher. This allows them to nurse Niese and Pelfrey along and not give them too many innings. This gives the fans and everyday players a breath of fresh air. No more slumped shoulders as Heilman enters the game. No more merciless booing. It lightens up the mood. This also means Jerry Manual will not have to make 18 pitching changes and prolong the game 3 hours longer than it needs to be. I don’t know if you can tell but I am pumped. I liked the K-Rod move. It was important. I love this move. It justified the K-Rod move and gets rid of the rotten core of the bullpen. Well done Omar. On to last night’s scores:
The 2010 LeBron Sweepstakes Invitational Knicks 121 Nets 109 - For the Knicks, Al Harrington and Wilson Chandler did their best to show why they would be good teammates for LeGlobal with Harrington having 39pts and 13 rebounds and Chandler adding 24 and 9. For the Nets, Devin Harris showed why he could be the true point guard LeBron needs by putting up 32 with 7 dimes. Devin Harris was informed the move to Brooklyn may not happen which led him running out of the room crying because all of this is for nothing.
Cavs 101 Sixers 93 – LeBron kept one eye on the TV as he put up 29 pts. LeBron really is special. I can see why you Clevelanders love him so. Mo Williams kept yelling, “Look at Me LeBron! I’m Good too!” as he put up 27pts. LeBron barely noticed.
Nothing else really matters to me. Here are other scores which includes Lakers/Suns which used to be a good game.
And for Sportsgal, men skating in circles swinging their sticks.

So when is the first “Santana a lock for 25 wins!” headline going to come out?
/knows how deluded the NY media is
It’s the NL, St. Bear. It could happen.
I am just pumped Johan will not HAVE to pitch more innings than he ever hasAGAIN next year
roman…so joe smith isn’t that bad? i was kinda fired up when i heard that.
another note…kerry wood has a reported deal of 2 years for $20 mil…does that seem ridiculously high to anyone else?
spence, is that guaranteed, or the max if he hits all incentives?
spencer-only an 8pt win? that is weak.
Spencer…Joe Smith is deadly against righties. Last year he was up and down against lefties but he has stretched where he is unhittable. He is young and cheap and helps your pen. Still think you got the dick in this deal. Unless those prospects are anything
spencer–I really liked Joe Smith…not recommended for lefties though…Stats
Valbuena is a good 2B prospect. I don’t like the deal for the Indians still, though.
Gutierrez is sick. He was my favorite Indian besides Grady (not an Indians fan). I loved watching that guy play OF.
Mets did alright for themselves, but the Mariners are the winners here.
Putz = Gutierrez, but Gut is cheaper and under team control for longer.
You didn’t mention the Edwin Jackson for Matt Joyce trade. The Rays’ GM knows what he’s doing.
Edwin Jackson sucks big time.
So let me get this straight… This deal eliminates any chance of another Met September colapse? That’s what’s being claimed here in December? Riiiight….
Nick…Mariners did the Best I agree…but Heilman blows…really he is terrible…Endy is a good glove, Gutierrez is good, Vargas has been wasting potential for years Carp could be a better hitter worse fielding (is that possible) Mike Jacobs…Putz is big because the Mets already have K-Rod…this adds a big dimension.
Nick..I don’t know much about Joyce..if you want to do what we did yesterday about that one..go right ahead.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a good deal for the Mets, because you’re not the team giving up Gutierrez. You guys gave up hot garbage.
What’s Carp’s ceiling? Absolute ceiling, maybe Casey Kotchman without the glove? Meh.
Carp could be a 25-85 guy
Carp could be a 25-85 guy
Although I will say that if this leads to Morrow as the closer, it’s bad.
Morrow has the potential to be a solid #2 behind Felix. If they waste him as closer, I’d be very sour on this deal.
I like Morrow as a closer. But its not like the Mariners are gonna win games.
Carp could be a 25-85 guy
I have no idea what the Mariners are thinking but that team needs an overhaul so maybe they view this deal as a start to that. Acquiring “assets” maybe they think Heilman can be a cheap starter? They are looking to dump Bedard so they will need live arms.
They stretched Morrow out as a starter towards the end of the year, and he had some dynamite starts. I’d hate to see them shift gears now.
I follow the Mariners (even though it’s a shitty franchise that I hate) more than any non-Reds team, btw. So I probably know too much about their roster.
“At the end of year, [Morrow] was in the rotation. And at this moment in time, nothing has changed,” Zduriencik said. “But we have a new manager and pitching coaches, and for me to stand here and dictate what is going to happen on the field is not my job.”
A Quote for the GM of Seattle
I read that as…we want Morrow to start but if he is not ready he is headed to the Pen
I remember he almost threw a no-no, but after that he was very inconsistent.
Sounds like Tek is going to sign back with the Sawx.
Remember last season when the Mets collapsed?
Carp could be a 25-85 guy, or so I’ve heard.
Really, the Yankees traded Melky for Mike Cameron?
Remember two seasons ago when the Mets collapsed?
I hope the O’s get Tex, they are fighting with the Nationals, Red Sox, and Angels for him.
What’s not to like fetch?
Better hitter, better fielder. And they’re trying to win now.
CRM: Also, remember two seasons ago when the Mets collapsed?
Still not making the playoffs. Congrats on wasting money.
On Melky…Austin Jackson should be ready by 2010..Cameron is a good stopgap
Rick…eat shit
anyone have a link to the trade? is it just Killa Cam for Melky straight up? no prospects?
stigs…it was said to be done now there is talk of maybe another pitcher involved on the Yankee end in exchange for money

Here you go
thanks
I must say roman, congrats. Some big moves, none bigger than getting rid of Heilman. The World Fucking Champions and I will miss him greatly.
