Traffic and comments might be a little low today, as today is the “Day Without a Gay” Day. If you can’t take the day off, feel free to comment here up until the rally taking place at 6 p.m. in San Fransisco. If you are able to take the day off and support the cause, we understand if you don’t stop by MLJ to comment. You do what you have to do. Go protest, picket and be merry together. And say hi to Jeff Garcia and Brady Quinn while you’re there. On to last night’s action:
Davidson 68, West Virginia 65: In response to TBL’s questionabout a black college athlete getting love like Tebow and Hansborough, Stephen Curry might be that guy. He had an off day shooting yesteday and Dave Pasch and Jay Bilas still kept saying how great he was. And he is great, but it was like he could do no wrong. He was 1 of 13 from 3, and he kept shooting. I guess I shouldn’t complain, because it paid off. Curry made his final three 3-pointers and 13 of Davidson’s last 15 points to hold off the Mountaineers. I love watching the kid play and I love it more when they show his mom on TV.
Texas 67, Nova 58: AJ Abrams and Damian Jones took over in the second half when their team needed them. They scored 16 straight points in the second half to help seal the deal for the Horns. Dante Cunningham led the Wildcats with 23 and 12 in the loss.
Cleveland 114, Toronto 94: Lebron scored 31 points last night while leading the Cavs to victory. He had 3 steals last night, and became the Cavaliers leader in career steals. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 6 rebounds and became the team’s leader in career rebounds. Big night for records to be knocked off in Cleveland.
Phoenix 125, Milwaukee 110: Shaq scored a season high 35 points over the terrible Milwaukee Bucks. Phoenix’s fast paced offense was too much for Milwaukee when they ran. And when Phoenix slowed it up, the Bucks couldn’t stop them either.
Houston 92, Altlanta 84: Yao Ming went insane last night while leading the Rockets to victory. Houston was down 8 in the fourth quarter but rallied on the shoulders of Yao’s double double. He dropped in 24 points and grabbed 19 boards. I still think if McGrady and Yao can be healthy at the right time, this team could be a force in the playoffs.

Mavs and Spurs played a 2OT thriller last night. Spurs won and are on a roll right now – I even had then higher in my NBA power rankings. /teaser
I am at work..I am here..I am HERE
Way to steal my NickP-quitter thunder.

Did a St. Bear comment get deleted, or am I seeing things?
Oh. there it is.
Agreed. Roman is gay.
It just may be my screen settings, but on ESPN.com the picture of Sabathia is stretched horizontally so he looks even fatter than normal.
Yes Nick I am happy
/1890s’d
I can’t see it!

It’s back to normal (just fat, not super-fat). As usual, I bring nothing to the discussion.

…besides a sweetass picture of a bear that will literally rip your face off.
Just when I was starting to think that money wasn’t everything to some baseball players… Fuck! This signing secures at least 3 more Orioles losses next season.
Lebron is definitely coming to NY now.
ill, we’re in a severe depression. you gots to get paid while you can.
Speak for yourself, clown. I got laid last night.
i was talking to my dad last night, saying that it would be good for fans and bad for the players if CC takes a lower money deal and keeps the open market value of pitchers down. guess that didn’t happen.
As always a lesson in life..money talks..players don’t care about you…I root for the laundry…I want the best guys in the laundry I like
Clown – I would have done the same thing. I’m just hatin’.
no, bear – you gots to get paid. (getting laid is nice, too)
Apropos that video you linked. I am out of touch with black culture, so explain to me why he rolled up in a beat-up Hyundai with a tape deck and rims that cost more than the car? Unless he was showing that he, himself, needs to get paid, doesn’t it undermine his credibility?
It’s a Texas thing, I believe. Very common around here.
Apropos?
Did fetch recruit a new writer?
Damn link is broken.
Nick – no mention of the Hernandez/Freel trade? Or are you waiting to see exactly what is involved?
I was interested to hear Nick’s thoughts on that as well.
@ill: I liked it.
I have Ramon at a shade over +2 WAR. Balt threw $3 million into the deal, so we’re paying $5 million for 2 wins? Nice.
Never was a big fan of Freel. He was a nice defender 3 years ago, but I’m over that. He would dive just to dive.
The prospects are middling, utility IF types. Screw it.
Nick, you could write up a post about it. Maybe? Hello?
Hef: I’ll email you something. I can’t post from work.
Nice Public Shaming Hef
Agreed.
/send it to Roman. I’m outta the office today (again).
