It was a little shaky at times, but Kansas finally pulled away from Temple at home. The KU players and crowd came out a little sleepy, probably because the university just finished their week of final exams, and Temple was able to keep it close, coming within a point with 2 minutes left in the first half. The Owls never grabbed the lead though as Kansas pulled away to win it 71-59.
Dionte Christmas followed up his outstanding effort against Tennessee with another good game: he was 6-14 from the field with 21 points, including a couple threes from NBA range with a hand in his face.
Four Jayhawks were in double figures, led by Sherron Collins’s 19. Cole Aldrich had 13, and Brady Morningstar and Tyshawn Taylor each had 11. Kansas overcame a bit of their outside shooting woes, as Collins was 3-7 from three and Morningstar was 3-4 from deep.
Aldrich had 11 rebounds in the game for yet another double double. He and Blake Griffin are the only Big 12 players averaging a double double.
Taylor had his best game as a Jayhawk, adding 8 assists, 2 rebounds, 4 steals and a block to his 11 points.
Next up the champs is a trip to Tucson against Arizona on Wednesday.
