Li'l Wily
After the non-tender list was revealed late Friday night, there were some names that the Reds could pursue. Among those that pique Cincinnati’s interest were outfielder Willy Taveras…
Willy Taveras: He is a terrible baseball player. He can’t hit (.312 wOBA projection) or field (-5 runs defense projection). He is very fast, so he can steal bases. However, that’s really the only thing he can do. Does this sound like anyone else we know? Don’t waste free agent dollars on no-talent retreads. If you sign him, even as a bench player, you’ll just be giving Dusty Baker an excuse to give the guy 500 PAs.
Do not want.

Ladies and Gentleman your New Reds Leadoff hitter
Not often do you see a picture quoted.
Reds 2009 Lineup
CF Tavaris
SS Gonzalez
2B Phillips……………….Dusty likes speed at the top of the lineup
C Hernandez
3B Encarnacion………..Dusty likes some experience driving guys in
1B Votto
RF Bruce……Dusty wants to protect his two young guns and bring them along slowly…at the bottom of the order he can protect these guys
LF Hopper…He is gritty
Ouch, Roman…but keep in mind. Dusty likes our .330 wOBA’ing second baseman hitting cleanup all year.
Otherwise, not far from the truth.
Nick…I wish you nothing but the best but as soon as I saw Reds and Wily Taveres I laughed my ass off
You could replace Reds with Cubs and Willy Taveras with Joey Gathrite and have the exact same post.
I wouldn’t mind Gathright, actually. Same shitty hitter, but much better glove.
Granted, I wouldn’t want him leading off, but lineup construction isn’t that big of a deal.
