It was a pretty chippy game for most of the night, as perhaps Washington wanted to goad Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich, KU’s two returning players, into foul trouble.
It didn’t work however, as the Jayhawks killed the Huskies by the score of 73-54 last night. It was close for a bit at the start, but the gap in quality between the two teams showed up as the game progressed. With just one game gone I would have to say this is more because Washington is god awful than Kansas being of any good quality.
The Jayhawks were led by -who else?- Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich, both perhaps in their last year on campus. Collins and Aldrich were both 6-12 from the floor and if Aldrich didn’t miss more than a few bunnies he could have had well over the 16 points he had. He also had 9 rebounds and a career high 6 blocks. Not a bad effort. Washington outrebounded Kansas by nearly 4-1, but it didn’t matter, since they can’t throw it into the ocean.
Kansas has three solid big men in Aldrich and the Morris twins, but I’m a little worried about the guard play. Tyrel Reed, Brady Morningstar and Tyshawn Taylor all showed flashes-the most notable being Taylor’s block nearing the end of the first half-but they all struggled during the game. Overall, however, I’d say Reed played the best.
Also of note: The human victory cigar Connor Teahan made a three.
KU takes on Syracuse next and will have to shoot the ball much better to win, and rebound on the offensive glass much better as well.

Way to use a picture from the actual game.
if i get shit for OSU related posting, this has to get shit too…especially considering it’s about *dry heave* college *hurl* basketball.
First!!
as soon as this post went up, it killed the comments
Sparty- You should try doing it on a hot stove.
This place is boring without Bo.
If they score points better and not let the other team score better than them, they may win.
Good point, clown.
madden’d
Clown, your image is ghey.
Spencer- I hope this gives you hope.

How high on the “who gives a shit” pile does this post rank? I am going to go somewhere between Preseason NFL and Regular season Hockey
get ready for one after every game. that is televised that is.
Clown, i think your image is lovely.
I’ve got it penned in right after hot stove league talk and way, way before CFB recruiting discussions.
Roman, I have it between “Liveblogging my post-Mexican breakfast dump” and “Major League Lacrosse playoffs update”
It does rank way above College Hockey, though.
BJ Mullens > Kansas’ entire frontline.

Did you guys think that maybe fetch took an unannounced week off because we’re always so mean to him? He’s my quarterback….

Fuck BJ Mullins. Fetch that clip was hilarious on his profile. He was playing with midgets.
Figures they’d compare the white player to Chris Kaman.
I’d consider him more of a Shaq/Hakeem hybrid, except with more power and finesse.
tampa…check him out at the mcdonalds all american game…he was beastmode.
spencer you know why I said fuck him. He is actually a fucking beast.
Nick- Thats why I hate Nbadraft.net because they are always comparing peoples game to someone they are physically similar too. They are fucking ridiculous. He reminds me of a Jermaine O’Neil on Roids.

//I actually can’t, either.
fetch…you’ve been reading too much TMQ.
Nick- Its just a high school clip hes just beasting poor undersized kids.
i happen to like tmq
TMQ is an asshat
TMQ is solid…today’s offering was quite good. a nice 70/30 ratio.
What the fuck is TMQ?
roman, do you just not like him cause of the whole Jersey thing or are there other reasons?
tuesday morning qb, written by gregggggg easterbrook (right spelling?)…on espn.
it’s nerdy as hell and filled with crap not related to the NFL, but there’s some good football stuff in there if you feel like reading through 5,000 words.
His 3 major beefs:
1. You should go for it on 4th down most of the time.
2. You can’t measure 1/10th of a second.
3. Coaches don’t want to get shutout, because it looks better on your resume.
Are all pretty much BS, IMO.
And he beats those 3 subjects to death every single week, or he did up until last year (I quit reading).
I agree with the 4th down thing. Obviously you should punt sometimes, but the other two are pretty dumb.
I like some of his non-football stuff. His recent kick about donating money to schools that can use it makes sense.
Spencer has most of it except I think his football thoughts are no great shakes either…the whole Spygate garbage..I HATE when people make a big deal out of things for their own promotion..that got him way too much attention…The Jersey thing is a personal annoyance but has nothing to do with my overall hatred of his material
nick…im right with TMQ on the 4th down thing. the defense is at your mercy then unless you telegraph an iso or dive. if youre around midfield or closer, you should always go for it if it’s closer than 4th and 4.
The 4th down thing is retarded…Field position is everything and he is essentially saying that teams should forgo that for another shot to move the ball…it is asinine…if everyone went on 4th down the element of surprise is gone and teams would play the down better…then the percentage of conversion would go down
Well, his conclusion may be right, but his logic is faulty.
He goes by the average play getting 4-5 yards, which means you should go for it on 4th and 4-5 or less the majority of the time.
But you have to consider the median play, IMO. And also he really needs to look at a break-even % since the result (keep ball/lose ball) is too important.
has he given up on Spy-Gate yet?
yes, field position is important, which is why i’d only go for it around midfield and closer. i just think there’s a lot more strain on the defense than there is on the offense in situations like that, and that there are very few HC’s/OC’s with enough balls to truly run a 4th down play well.
look at the chargers and colts…4th and 1 around midfield…they call a 10 yard PA play…money because the D had 10 in the box. sure, you can’t run it like that everytime, but i’d rather be aggressive in a situation like that.
I think more teams should punt on 3rd down.
TO me 4th down territory is only in between the 30-40 (long Field goal area) that is not sacrificing field position to any major degree..and a missed field goal loses you yards…at the 50..all you need is 25 yards to get 3 points…it is rough to recover from giving up that type of field position
CFL’d?
roman…it all depends on the flow of the game. if you can pick up 4-5 yards a play and are flowing, why not try and get a 4th down even if you’re just outside that range? obviously if you’re not clicking or facing a better D that changes it all, but most teams can pick up 4-5 yards easy. plus it opens up the entire playbook and you can put a nail in the other team’s coffin if you convert.
a converted 4th down to keep drives going is HUGE.
