True story, I forgot to do this like three times. Whatever, that’s fine. Since I’m the Friday guy I always feel a lot of pressure to sum up the week in eloquent fashion. Most of the time I have to lie to all you people about it being a great week and there being a great weekend ahead and blah blah blah. But truth be told it was a great week: The Twins closed from a 2.5 game defecit to a 1 game deficit in one day, Vince Young went crazy, and Gonzo landed an interview with a TV star. And this weekend should be great, starting with KU-South Florida tonight, continuing with Ohio State-USC tomorrow night, and culminating with the Vikings starting out 0-2 and the  (please please please) nomination of John David Booty as their starting QB. On to last night’s games.

Jays 6, White Sox 4: Shawn Marcum threw 7.1 innings, striking out 6, and even though Scott Downs gave me a mild heart attack in the next inning, BJ Ryan collected his 29th save of the season. This game was especially important because…

Royals 3, Twins 2 (10): At one point Francisco Liriano retired 15 straight batters, but a bit of bad luck struck the Twins bullpen. Matt Guerrier gave up a chopper up the middle and a blooper, and then Dennys Reyes gave up the game winning RBI to David DeJesus. Liriano threw 8 innings, giving up 2 runs and striking out 6, but it was not enough to keep the Twins from dropping the game.

Astros 6, Pirates 0: The Astros moved to approximately 85535-3 since the All Star break, as Roy Oswalt threw a complete game shutout. He struck out 4, and perhaps more importantly walked 0. Oswalt also had 2 RBIs in the win.

Orioles 6, Indians 3: Former Twin Brian Bass threw 4.1 innings, giving up 3 runs, and Melvin Mora is 1 RBI short of 100 for the season. Hopefully the Orioles got all their offense out of their system before this weekend.

Phillies 6, Brewers 3: Prince Fielder and JJ Hardy both went yard, but Ben Sheets had a rough night, going 6 innings, giving up 5 runs. Jamie Moyer threw 5.2 innings and picked up his 14th win of the season. He probably will pitch until he is approximately 500.

And last but not least, all of America is a winner because the Mets did not play.
