Dusty Baker is not worried about Edinson Volquez’s fatigue. Well, I’m satisfied. It’s not like he has a history of breaking down young pitchers, right? Some words from the esteemed Mr. Baker:

“It isn’t called the dog days of August because it’s April. Sometimes you’ve got to go into uncharted waters to learn. As long as you aren’t hurt, you have to pull through it. Sometimes you have to give the dudes on the other side some credit. You have to make an adjustment. He’ll make it.”

Sure, but maybe giving a guy some time off if he’s noticeably tired might be a good idea. Maybe shut him down a few pitches sooner? Seems fair to me. Let’s check out his pitch counts in recent games.

114, 110, 99, 109, 96

Rot in hell, Dusty.
