I hate the Yankees. I know… completely original thought coming at you from the boys at MLJ. I hate them for the same reasons that everyone else does, although I’m warming to this Hank Steinbrenner lad. I do like the history of the Yankees, and by “history”, I mean anything that predates the rampant commercialism and media humpage that occurs for all things pin-striped.

Rick Reilly was the suck last night. Terrible. Unbelievably bad. Somehow he sounded worse than when he did “humorous” drop-ins on the US Open golf coverage. Since he’s getting crushed everywhere, I’ll point you to what he’s clearly gooder at: writing and writing about the end of Yankee Stadium. Sure, it’s no Estadio Olimpico in Santiago, Chile, or even as breathtaking as the Celinto Catayente Towers, just down the street from the Estadio, but still…

Someday I plan on actually writing a post dedicated to the gem that is the Library of Congress online digital collection. Many of the MLB-related photos are rights managed, but many are in the public domain. What’s that mean? It means that you can download ultra-high resolution copies and have them printed as high as poster-sized. I’ve literally spent hours going down one road or another there.
