After Bill Hall had 9th inning homers on Tuesday and Wednesday, Ryan Braun provided the late inning fireworks last night. Down 3-2 to the Cardinals with Hardy on first base, Ryan Braun sent a no doubter off Ryan Franklin to the left field bleachers. And he stood and watched it go. And then he watched it some more. And then he took a couple steps toward first base while still watching the ball. I counted 6 steps before he started his home run trot. Who does he think he is, Manny Ramirez?
While I have a giant man crush on Braun, even I know he shouldn’t have done this. He pimped (that’s what the baseball folks call watching your home run) a home run last year and after the game said he didn’t mean to show up the pitcher. But he admitted he would probably get thrown at in the next game. He did get hit, got up and took his base. But with the bad blood between the Cardinals and the Brewers stemming from a Ned Yost and Tony LaRussa fight last year, it will be interesting to see what happens when the Brewers go to STL at the end of August.

I always hated the idea that a pitcher should be coddled like that… celebrations i could understand gettinng pissed at, but just not moving quickly enough?
If you don’t like it, then don’t give up home runs, ho.
agreed. but it’s the long standing tradition in baseball. although, i thinking hitting a bomb like that is showing the guy up enough. just ask brad lidge.
ryan braun is bad bitch
Lloyd Braun > Ryan Braun
If you watch the tape of the Pujols/Lidge bomb, you can actually watch the moment Lidge’s soul is crushed into a quantum singularity… I’m kind of happy for him because he’s been able to bounce back in Philly. He was the shit for us before that night.
agreed. i remember exactly where i was sitting when i saw that. my roommate and i jumped up and started screaming. lidge has been lights out and earned himself a $30 million deal. good for him.
I think if a pitcher hits a bomb is he should be allowed to strut around the bases
I wouldn’t exactly call that a no doubter it went two rows deep…He should have been running for his teams sake
I remember that Pujols shot well. I was all pissed thinking it was over. Pujols hit that ball and you could tell as soon as it left the bat. I think I jumped about 20 feet when he hit it. Good times.
Agreed war helmet. I say if it’s a homer like that no sense in retaliating, because he could have easily screwed himself out of a base had it not gone out, plus by not hitting him, he’ll have that worry in the back of his mind the whole game
it’s TLR. he’s going to have someone throw at him.
