Manny Ramirez is going to the Dodgers. Wow. The Red Sox are that fucking dumb. I have no details. I will keep updating this blog as I hear more. This was reported on WFAN by Jon Heyman.

It is a three way trade between the Dodgers, Red Sox and Pirates. The Pirates are getting 4 minor leaguers. Bay to Boston, Manny to LA.

Commentary

Manny in the Dodger lineup changes the dynamic of the NL West. A true force in the middle of the lineup. Everything that Andruw Jones was supposed to be.

Jason Bay to the Red Sox is a major step down. MAJOR. He is a good righty bat and a great compliment to a lineup. But the Red Sox just traded their best hitter, clean up hitter, most feared hitter because of a petty contract dispute. It takes them as the best team in the division and makes them the third team.

The Pirates are getting prospects. I don’t know who they are yet. Fetch can tell us if they made out.

The Marlins are the big losers. Apparently they let 2 million dollars stop them from putting themselves in front of the NL East.

The Rays were close to getting Bay. I am curious to see if they pulled back their prospects or the Pirates pulled back to do this deal.

SI.com has the prospects as RP Craig Hansen and OF Brandon Moss from the Red Sox and 3B Andy LaRoche and P Bryan Morris…at first look I like what the Pirates got.

Update 5:00 More Analysis

The Red Sox paid the remaining $7 million on Manny’s contract. Wow. So the Dodgers get Manny for two ok prospects and don’t have to pay him. The Red Sox essentially traded Craig Hansen, Brandon Moss AND Manny Ramirez plus $7 million for Jason Bay. That is just hideous. It is an embarrassment. It is the Red Sox being arrogant. It is the Red Sox fucking over a season over a $20 million option.
