So Max Scherzer was sent back down to Tucson this past week in order for him to get more regular pitching sessions in. His role as long reliever with the Diamondbacks left the front office feeling that his talents were either being wasted or left to stagnate due to lack of activity.
Scherzer, Arizona’s top draft pick in 2007, had an ERA of 2.90 in 10 games pitched (three starts), going 0-2 with 14 walks and 33 strikeouts in 31 innings.
When he was on, he was unhittable, but those times were few and far between due to Arizona’s pitching needs. He was replaced by relief pitcher Billy Buckner who netted the win against the Royals on Friday night, but shit the bed on Saturday in long relief of Randy Johnson (who was pitching his age in giving up 8 runs in 4 1/3 innings). But the fact is, the club isn’t going to sit Randy down and Doug Davis has been pitching well since his return from kicking the hell out of cancer so there just isn’t room for a young phenom who won’t get his regular work in.
My favorite thing about Scherzer? The fact that he’s probably Jewish but won’t cop to it. In fact, one of the leading search engine terms that leads people to our site is the phrase “max scherzer jewish” because of this article that we did after his first start. I think the evidence is strong. He’s from Missouri; his first name is Max; his “profile” (wink!). It’s a popular pasttime of Jews around the country (world?), playing the “is he, isn’t he” game. It even inspired a popular Adam Sandler song. What the hell, let’s all sing along. Hurry back, Max.

Hefler always sniffs out the Jews.
The only group that comes close to playing the “is he, isn’t he” game is the gays. NTTAWT.
Who’s this Adam Sandler fella? That was a funny song!
