Ryan Braun has been on a terror as of late. In 4 games at Miller Park this May, Braun is hitting .563 with 4 home runs and 4 RBI’s with an on base percentage of .588. He’s got a gawdy OPS of 2.026. Braun has hit 2 home runs in each of the previous 2 games against division rival St. Louis Cardinals. The last Brewer to do this was hometown favorite favorite Geoff Jenkins in 2001. This guy is so hot right now, he could take a crap, wrap it in tinfoil, put a couple of fish hooks on it and sell it to Queen Elizabeth as earrings.

The Brewers have just not been hitting up to their potential this season. Until yesterday, the largest Brewers victory since April 6th has been 2 runs. The Brewers have only 8 games with 6 or more runs this year compared with 13 games at this time last year. One consistency from last year is the Brewers struggle on the road. Right now, they sit at 9-12 on the road. They have however started to play better at home after taking 3 out of 4 games from the Cardinals.

Ryan Braun, hitting out of the three hole, is a very important key to the success of the Brewers. With the slumping big boy Prince Fielder batting behind him, Braun will see a lot more pitches to hit than if he was batting behind Prince. Rickie Weeks and Mike Cameron need to start getting on base so the two big bats in the lineup can knock them in.

If this team really wants to make a run at the playoffs, they will need Prince to heat up along with Ryan Braun. Prince, who is hitting .241 with 5 home runs and 22 RBIs is the lone lefty in the lineup everyday for the Crew. Luckily for Prince, who has mashed right handed pitchers in the past, the Dodgers come to Miller Park for 3 games and bring all right handed starters to the mound. Look for Prince to break out of the “slump” he has been in all season.
